PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The Providence Public Library’s plan to transform is branch on Empire Street into an event venue to increase revenue is already proving successful.

The library has booked two dozen weddings and about twenty fundraisers at the site.

Last year, the library teamed up with Russell Morin Hospitality Solutions to renovate the 112-year-old building.

They’ve repaired plaster trim and added sprinklers to meet fire code standards.

The first wedding was held this past February.
